The Oakton 93824-30 general purpose 400-series thermistor probe has a four-inch long, pointed-style probe tip with a 0.188-inch diameter, and is used to measure temperature readings within the -30 to 100 degrees C (-22 to 212 degrees F) range. A thermistor probe, also known as a sensor, measures the temperature of a solution or substance, and is commonly used for testing in liquids or semi-solids in field and laboratory applications. This probe features a pointed-style tip for penetration into hard and semi-solid materials. It includes a five-foot, PVC-coiled cable with strain relief for protection from repeated flexing and tugging. It has an easily gripped, five-inch long glass-filled nylon handle to provide maximum heat insulation and impact resistance. The handle features fingerstops to prevent the probe from rolling, and to prevent fingers from sliding, when inserting the probe into hard materials. The probe has a stainless steel 316 sheath (tip casing) for durability, strength, and abrasion-resistance. The general-purpose tip is designed for most common and liquid immersion applications. It comes with a 0.25-inch phono plug connector.
The 93824-30 probe is intended for use with the Oakton 400-series meters, and can also be used with Oakton 500-series meters, but will require conversion chart consultation. Thermistors have excellent accuracy over the biological ambient temperature ranges when compared to thermocouple or resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), but have a limited temperature range that usually cannot exceed 150 degrees F (300 degrees C). Response times tend to be faster than other types of probes.
